Nutrition (or nourishment), is food you eat to provide the cells in your body the materials needed to sustain your life. When you eat foods necessary to your wellbeing, your body is in good shape, you have energy and vitality and you have healthy nourishment.
Nutrition: What is a Diet?
The food you eat to nourish your body is your diet. Your diet determines the health of your body, and thus how you feel and function.
A poor diet, where some food essentials you need are omitted, can cause diseases such as scurvy and beriberi. Eating too much of various foods, can cause obesity and metabolic syndrome, diabetes, osteoporosis, high cholesterol and heart disease. A good diet is balanced and healthy nourishment for your body; you feel well and are healthy.
Nutrients You Need
There are seven essential nutrition categories (or foods) you need for a healthy diet.
Carbohydrate, fat, fibre, minerals, protein, vitamins, and water are those nutrients.
For a healthy diet you need relatively large amounts of Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Fibres, and Water.
Minerals and Vitamins are Nutrients you need in small amounts only.
Carbohydrate, fat and protein gives your body the energy it needs. Fibre, water, minerals and vitamins provide other essential body nutrients.
Most foods contain a mixture of many nutrients you need.
You need all nutrients daily, but some only in very small amounts.

Malnutrition
When your diet does not contain the right nourishment, your body becomes unbalanced, and you feel unwell. Your body is malnourished.
When you become obese, or extremely underweight, your body is also malnourished.
Feed Your Brain
By nourishing your body with regular and healthy meals, your mental abilities are enhanced. Your memory is good, and you can absorb and utilize more information with ease.
