Healthy Diet

Your daily diet should include all essential nutrients, and a variety of foods needed for your particular lifestyle to be a healthy diet.  If you are not having much exercise but eating lots of foods full of energy, the unused energy becomes fat and blood sugar (glucose).  If you are drinking too little water, you become dehydrated.  If you are eating the wrong balance of essential nutrients, you become malnourished.  And so it goes on.

What Is Healthy?

  1. A Healthy Diet is a diet which suits the needs of your body and takes into account your lifestyle.  Not everyone needs the same amounts of the various food categories, but everyone needs all food categories.
  2. There are seven food categories you need in order to nourish your body with a healthy diet. Carbohydrate, Fat and Oil, Fibre, Protein, Minerals, Vitamins and Water are those seven essential categories. For more information, see: More About Nutrition.
  3. Eating a variety of fresh foods (foods which are not processed, like fruits, fresh vegetables and green salads), your body stays healthier than if you eat the very same foods processed.
  4. Raw or fresh, unprocessed foods are digested more slowly into the body, in the process extracting more goodness from the food.  The food is satisfying, and you do not quickly feel hungry again.
  5. Eating regular meals is also more satisfying for your body than eating irregularly or infrequently.
  6. Using balanced proportions of fresh foods and only a few processed foods in your diet, you can create a diet which is satisfying and makes you healthy.
